Members of the Rare
Breeds Survival Trust, a charitable trust based at the National Agricultural
Centre at Stoneleigh, Swaledale Pork only farm outdoor reared rare breed
pigs – Gloucestershire Old Spot, British Lop and Berkshire.
Whilst UK numbers of Gloucestershire Old Spot

Farms such as
Swaledale Pork will help to protect the existence of these breeds and
encourage the consumption of superior pork from traditional breeds.
The pigs themselves receive extremely high
standards of care. They live outdoors, with straw-bedded wooden huts for
shelter. They are able to forage and root around as they would have done
when they lived in the wild and are fed a GM free diet, which is also free
from hormonal growth enhancers and antibiotics. |
